About Me

My name is Mike Dudley, and I am a Special Effects/Technical Artist.

I saw Star Wars when I was 9 and that was it. I wanted to do Special Effects for a living. I've always been fascinated with movie magic. I made monsters in my parents garage, and worked on a few independent films in Fresno, CA where I grew up. In 1992 I moved to Los Angeles and became a freelance make-up effects technician for a few years. The work was a lot of fun, but it involved a lot of nasty chemicals.

I was inspired by a friend of mine who worked at Imageworks back in the day and bought my first computer in '94. Eventually,  I taught myself how to do 3D.

My first game industry job was working on the Nintendo 64 version of the old arcade game Robotron. It was a really fun game and was a great introduction to the industry.

I have worked in the games industry for the past 9 years, with 10 released titles. Most of my focus has been on creating special effects. I seem to be happiest when I'm problem solving or blowing stuff up.
